"Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain" or Amelie, as i would rather call it if i can only watch ONE movie this year, this would be it. i like movies that make me think that the movie-plot fairy came and plucked some ideas off my head while i'm sleeping yes, i often sit around and imagine what my own funeral would look like yes, i get obssessed with taking 'theme' photographs of single objects, like trees. and i've recently discovered that i have quite a collection of chairs too. (footprints in the movie) and please, next time u have a date with me, try not to be late. i sometimes frighten myself thinking that the MRT driver had opened the wrong set of doors, u walked right out, and plunged 10 meters off the tracks.
i like the surreal (not over-exaggerated fantasy). i think i can happily bounce around in dream-land where emotions seem detached... nothing hits too hard. and things end 'happily ever after' when you desire. it's nice to capture mental pictures of surreal images from real life. it's my way of 'stopping to smell the roses' :)
I can't believe they filmed at st martin's canal! my fave spot in paris! though i never mentioned that to anyone cos 1. noone i know seem to know where that is 2. my travelling partners in paris thought that was the least significant part of the trip
anyways, very good movie. go watch. and i'm going to sleep. it's 4am! oh yes, watch out for the cool marshmallow making machine!
